Brookfield has pro-actively responded to the Carbon Disclosure Project (www.cdproject.net
*) for the past several years. In 2008, for the first time, the company had its greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions data audited by a third party to confirm the validity of the findings.
In 2012, Brookfield responded to the GRESB (Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark) (www.gresb.com
*) survey for the first time. The GRESB survey measures the sustainability performance of real estate companies and portfolios and the impact they have on the environments that house their properties. Brookfield was awarded "Green Star" status by GRESB, having ranked #2 out of 24 peer companies and #40 out of 451 respondents globally.
Brookfield again participated in GRESB in 2013 and performed even better, ranking #2 out of 25 peer companies and #22 out of 543 respondents globally.
